I don’t sell dresses. I watch what sells.
Beau Morante is a fashion journal about four kinds of dresses: the wedding gown, the prom dress, the evening and wedding-guest dress, and the dress a mother wears to her child’s wedding. I write it from a desk, not a shop floor. My day job is the website and search work for Jan’s Boutique, a bridal and formal-wear store, which puts me in front of the numbers most people never see: which dresses sell out, which ones restock, which ones sit, and what people are typing into the search bar at midnight.
Not what the runways promised. What sold. What got saved and pinned and asked about. What the best-seller list looked like this month compared to last, and what that says about the season coming.

The rules I keep
Plain, specific, and honest about where it comes from.
I name silhouettes, fabrics and price ranges rather than vibes. I write from what the numbers and real people say — sales, searches, what gets saved and shared — not from a press release, and I say plainly when something is a guess. When a piece points you toward Jan’s Boutique, you should know I work with them; it is also, not coincidentally, where the best-seller data comes from. If a link ever pays me beyond that, the page will say so.
